for me, the popup window thing is harder to use than simply clicking on the bbcode button and entering your url etc.

Just a personal thing. Most users I have asked during testing of my new forum do not like to have to add the name of the link manually.

Using the URL button is fine in some cases, but to make a link look clean with a simple title, having to manually type it in is not what they want.

They also do not like having to type in the IMG code, or make sure the cursor is in between the code when pressing the button.

Simply a matter of personal preference. I would think the popularity of aBBcode AND this thread about adding them would tell the powers that be that some of these options should be standard.

In any case, thanks for the help. I did try the abandoned mod listed and it worked, but somehow effected my logo in the top. I could not return it to what I had and had to restore my board.

I am getting really gun shy about installing any more "mods" as they seem to change a lot more than just what they claim.

Thanks again, appreciate your time.

in every popup type bbcode box I have seen you still have to type in all the info just like you do with the normal bbocde button.

the cursor should already be in the middle of the bbcode tags when you click the bbcode button.

I think you and your members are making this way harder than it needs to be. :D
I think it is more about what you are used to than whether one method is harder than the other.
I know how that is because I just hate having to right click to open in a new window for instance.

"in every popup type bbcode box I have seen you still have to type in all the info just like you do with the normal bbocde button."

Not if you copy and paste the URL and IMG properties.

Also, when you post an URL, and you want a simple title, you have to manually change that.

Above is the URL as we all know.

But if you insert a link to, say this discussion, it looks like this:
http://www.phpbb.com/community/posting. ... 6&t=579376

To make this simple title like: "Phpbb Code Thread" I have to manually change the URL tag from this: to this: [url=http://url]URL text[url]

Retyping the whole url tag just to make a custom title is tedious.

So we are not making anything harder. We want it easier. Retyping all of that URL code for every simple title link is not easier.

Come on, you don't have retype the whole URL tag -- just left arrow back one space, type "=", paste the URL in, right arrow forward one space and type your text. Anybody who is typing the whole thing again really is making things harder, as Lumpy said.

If you think that's the case, create an RFC at Area51.

However, if you had that "more friendly" dialog, you'd still have to tab (or click) to get to the text entry field, then hit Enter (or click an OK button) to enter the URL tag into the posting box. So the "more friendly" version only saves one keystroke (tab and Enter vs. left arrow, = and right arrow) or maybe two (you probably have to hit the End key to get back to the end of the URL tag if you're going to enter more text) if somebody works efficiently.

Google Doc bbcode

Post by matthewtimothy »

I searched for a bbcode but I could not find one so I made this one. Note I have only tested this with spreadsheets.

Code: Select all

[spreadsheet]{IDENTIFIER}[/spreadsheet]
HTML Replacement

Code: Select all

<iframe src="https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key={IDENTIFIER}" width="675" height="675" border="0"></iframe>
Help Line

Code: Select all

Enter everything after the key=
How to make it work in google drive:

1. Create your spreadsheet on the main layer right click > share > share (yes a second share) > Who can access clich change in blue > Select radio with "anyone with the link". Click save

2. Copy the link in blue.
3. Remove "https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=" and paste the remaining in the between [spreadsheet][/spreadsheet]

Hello, if I do not bother on this topic, I wonder if one can integrate Adsense BBCode in a message on phpbb 3.0.11 exists?

I ask this because I tried this code (which unfortunately does not work and seems outdated):

http://forums.phpbb-fr.com/support-util ... 55932.html
In reality it only works when I replace puts adsense ID poster and not when I put mine.
I also noticed some differences between the given code:

Code: Select all

<script type="text/javascript"> <! -
google_ad_client = "pub-4944740370381843";
/ * 468x60, date created 24/11/08 * /
google_ad_slot = "2805478338";
google_ad_width = 468;
google_ad_height = 60;
/ / ->
</ script>
<script type = "text / javascript"
src = "http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
</ script>

And google adsense code gives me:

Code: Select all

<script type="text/javascript"> <! -
google_ad_client = "ca-pub-4391855447145138";
/ * Adsense 07/2012 * /
google_ad_slot = "7219260298";
google_ad_width = 468;
google_ad_height = 60;
/ / ->
</ script>
<script type = "text / javascript"
src = "http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
</ script>
How can I fix this code to integrate Adsense block, or a post on a topic as BBCode?
Thx for all.

bbcode only works in posts. why do you need a adsense bbcode to put in a post?

if you want your adsense ads to display on the posting page then put the code in the html file according to this:
Advertisements in phpBB3

Take particular note of the important notice half way down regarding Google ads. Due to the google terms and conditions, the ads should only go in the index_body.html, viewtopic_body.html and viewforum_body.html files. Do not put them in the overall_header or footer.
