How do I reverse the effects of AutoMod

Post by Tom Riddle »

without accessing my board?

I had edited one line of code manually, and now the board is broke. How do I revert back to the original code before I edited it?

without more info we really can't help.

we need to have a link to the board.

we need to know what code you edited and why

what does this have to do with automod?

I assume you did not do the right thing and make backups before you started? :o

I was installing Anti Spam ACP on proskygray, and one line of code was not found. i added the code in manually, and the error you see on /forums is what happened. I tried to fix it, but I'm not sure how to.

And I thought to take backups, but didn't think it would really be needed.

whatever file you edited, replace it with your backup.

you still haven't told us what file you edited and what line of code you put in.

however, to get your board back, just upload the backup you made of whatever file it was.

then, using your ftp, delete everything from the folder named "cache" except for the index.htm and the htaccess files.

then it should come back.

My apologies, it was overall_footer.html I believe. It was something relating with the MCP/ACP.

Also I meant to say that I thought I should take backups, but I didn't as I didn't think there would be an issue.

can't think of anything you could do to the overall_footer that would do this, but anyway,

assuming that you are using the standard style of prosilver that comes with phpbb;

download the full version of phpbb from the menu above.

unzip it on your computer, using your ftp, upload the included copy of styles/prosilver/template/overall_footer.html to the same place on your server.

if you are using some other style, just get a copy of that style and do the same with it.

I was installing Anti Spam ACP on proskygray from AutoMod.

AutoMod was not able to complete it as it could not find this string:

Code: Select all

<!-- IF U_ACP --><br /><a href="{U_ACP}">{L_ACP}</a><!-- ENDIF -->
I added it in manually for AM to find it, and then the error popped up. Let me try your way.

So I copied the overall_footer.html from proskygray on another installation and moved it to the appropriate folder. Still getting that error.

But if I delete everything, won't I lose all the mods I installed?

Clicky

But if I delete everything, won't I lose all the mods I installed?
that is why I missed it the first time. that is not a link to your board.

http://phpbbhaven.com/forums is a link

Code: Select all

clicky
is a link.

things without http:// in them are not links.
'

I did not say delete everything. I said delete everything in the cache folder except for those two files.

only the cache folder.

ok, if you don't have a copy of phpbb from here go ahead and download one to your computer.

unzip it,
upload the included index.php file from the phpBB3 folder to the forums folder on the server.

use ftp for this.

yes, the point is to see if your problem is a corrupted index.php file .

be sure you upload the index.php file that is in the board root to the board root.

there is another index.php in the adm folder and that is NOT the one we are working with.
