because it doesn't need a index.php file.

you are making this way harder than it is.

you unzip the convertor zip to your computer.

you then have a folder named smf20_convertor

inside that folder you have two folders name install and includes

you upload those two folders ( install and includes ) to your board root.

then, in your browser, you go to:

http://yourdomain.com/yourphpbb/install

( no index.php or anything else )

on the page that comes up you will see a tab that says "convert"

click on it and there you will find your places to input your required information etc.

luck,
robert

no, you follow my instructions above. nowhere does it say anything about uploading the phpbb install folder.

If you follow my instructions above, exactly , then you will be fine.

ok, what is the link to your board?

also, you are still trying to access the convertor file.

also, what are you using to upload the files?

you should be doing this using ftp. it looks like you are using your hosting control panel file manager instead.

you are not supposed to be trying to access the convertor file.

you do exactly as I said above.

upload those two folders to your board folder.

the includes folder will add it's files to the existing includes folder and the install folder will add itself to the list.

then, you do NOT try to access the convertor files at all.

you go to

yourdomain.com/yourphpbb/install

don't type anything after the install
dont' try to go anywhere else.

just do exactly what I showed.

no, he needs the install folder that comes with the convertor files.

the original phpbb install folder would not have the proper links to the proper files etc.

besides, if it was there, then when you upload the one that comes with the convertor files it would just be overwritten or appended to actually.

that is why the convertor comes with its own install folder.

ok, this is embarrassing. I was wrong about needing the phpbb install folder on the server.

as was mentioned above by bprsk8r4272, you do need to upload the install folder from the full phpbb download.

what happens is that once it is there and you upload the install folder that is included with the convertor, it appends the convertors folder to the existing install folder.

I am really sorry about the confusion.

so,

If you do not have a copy of the full phpbb then download it and unzip it to your computer.

then, upload the folder named install to your board root.

then check to make sure that the folder named install still has the folder named convertors inside it.

then, go to yourdomain.com/yourphpbb/install and you should be ok.

sorry,
robert
