I just installed this mod on my 2.0.11 so it works. Just apply the changes to the merge.php file mentioned on the previous page.

And no it won't mess with you current theme. The one file it does ask you to edit from your templets folder is basically just placing links in there so other files know where to locate certain images used by the mod.

1.0.0 was a great mod, this one is ripe for the trashcan. You must install at least 2 other mods to be able to use it... If you are looking for an easy merge: stick to 1.0.0 : here If you enjoy not understanding a word of the mod file: knock yourself out...

Hi Ptirhiik

I installed this mod on a modded site with CH 2.0.10 and when I try to merge two topics and I click on the SELECT button, I get this error

Code: Select all

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/mercuryn/public_html/mercuryserver/forums/includes/functions_admin.php on line 60
any ideas ?

Do I have to add that topics list portion? If not, which parts can I skip?

Currently the mod won't work with CH 2.1.0 : there will be an adaptation soon.

Is there a possibility the main download file is updated for 2.0.11 and topic could be changed from

[2.0.6] Simply Merge Threads

to

[2.0.11] Simply Merge Threads

so one could simply download it without having to check all the pages for any fixes needed to be done from .6 to .11. After reading all the pages, I am still finding it a matter of hit-and-trial to download and see if it would or would not work on 2.0.11. Considering a large forum with a big userbase, I dont think experimenting could be an affordable idea. And I am desperately looking for a mod that merges threads/posts into a single topic.

I just installed this mod and must say it works perfectly. Thanks Ptirhiik! I use phpBB 2.0.11, php 4.3.10, apache 1.3.33 and mysql 4.0.22.

My way of installing this mod:
- Follow EVERY instruction from the MOD-merge.txt file. Do not skip instructions unless a specific instruction tells you!
- Perform the patch posted by Timofey (big thanks!):

Code: Select all

		// update the topic title
		if (!empty($topic_title))
		{
			$sql = "UPDATE " . TOPICS_TABLE . " SET topic_title='" . str_replace("\'", "''", $topic_title) . "' WHERE topic_id=$to_topic_id";
			if ( !$db->sql_query($sql) ) message_die(GENERAL_ERROR, 'Could not update topic title', '', __LINE__, __FILE__, $sql);
		}
After that you need to read the usage instructions on how to select a topic as source or destination in a merge operation. I based these on the use case posted by His Holiness The Dude (thnx for this), it also helped me figure out how the selector works.
1. Click the select button to the right of the topic entry you want to change

2. A screen will display that says "No topics or posts met your search criteria".

3. There is a drop down in the upper right of the screen. It is not for changing from the merge function to read a forum. It is for selecting a forum to pull threads from to pick a topic to merge. Choose a forum from the drop down.

4. The forum's thread names will populate the list, replacing the message.

5. Select which thread you wish to merge.

6. Push the Submit button at the bottom of the screen

7. The ID number of the thread you chose has now been placed in the entry box for you on the previous screen.
