after making changes you have to go to the admin panel and refresh the style components.

admin panel
styles tab,
on the left, click on templates,
on the right, click on refresh for your style
on the left, click on theme
on the right click on refresh for your style
on the left, click on imageset
on the right, click on refresh for your style.

then go back to the index and refresh your browser. shift/reload or control f5 etc.

Header cuts off at the right.

You need to rework the original image. If you make the length shorter the height will change. If you squeeze it into the space it will distort the text. So the image needs to be reworked. Take the height and width measurements of the header and use that as your canvas size.

If you can tell me what that bit says and what font it is I can do it in a few minutes.

That depends on how wide your window is. it looks fine at 1680.

You probably will not have too many users with that wide a monitor. Most of the widescreens are still 1440 and the standards are 1280.

So we're thinking the new banner should be 1280 x 129px?

No. You have 20px of padding on either side, so you have to account for that too.

I think I need another person to check the site.

www.dadswhodiaper.com/Forum

The new banner (1240x130) has stretched on my screen.

I don't know if it looks fine on smaller screens and just messed up on mine. Cant I just center the banner and have it smaller or largest based on the screen size?

It looks grainy. Resizing like that does not work with big pixel sizes. It is also x-repeating. If you are using a background image, you need to turn off the repeat.style="background-repeat: no-repeat"

You guys are the best, I owe many of you a beer. The forum already looks 1000x time better. Only thing left on my check list is make the banner a click through back to my main site instead of the Forum home *** (and change "Board index" to "Home"). I'm looking at the start of this thread now and the instructions are confusing. I'll keep reading through the years and I'm sure the answer will be in there somewhere.

**** I found on page 21 the comment about changing U_INDEX to your URL when I do that I just get http://www.dadswhodiaper.com/Forum/%7BD ... per.com%7D

instead or just

wherever it is that you changed the link you left the brackets in.

it should be

Code: Select all

<a href="http://whatever.com/whatever">Home</a>
or similar, notice the curly brackets are not there.
