Extensions license question

Hi. I have 2 clients for who i'm creating a custom extension based on one existing extension from phpbb database. The problem is that i don't want them have the possibility to resell/distribute for free my extension. So for that should i release my extension on the same GNU General Public License v2 or should i include a different type of license or both of them?

If you are using an official phpBB extension then it will have to use the GNU General Public License v2, or equivalent. If you are creating your own extension and not having it validated then you can use whatever licence that you want.

To some extent it is probably a bit pointless worrying about it as you will, in all probability, have no control over what somebody else does with the code and the only redress that you would have would be to take legal action, the cost of which would be prohibitive.

No is not an official extension, i'm creating my own.I was just worry about what license should i include with it and i'm aware about we have no control on what others can do with our code but the type of license provided is also important.Thanks for the info.

'Based on extension from the phpbb database' means it's GPLv2 and should remain the same. Your clients get the same rights as you of redistributing for free or fee .
