Who here would open the attached document?
Suppose you were a management-type at a medium-size corporation?

If that is the only information accompanying the alleged "resume" then all I can hope is that anyone opening it has good Internet protection software installed.

I'd employ him like a shot (assuming I were in the phishing/ransomware/keylogging business)

That is what I said too. There is always some sort of grammar error in those.

I get a lot of resumes every day.
I NEVER open those Word-files! I MIGHT open a PDF-resume.

Depends entirely on the associated programs - I have no problem opening Word files with Notepad (not Wordpad) and a PDF with Sumatra, whereas I would avoid Adobe Reader whenever possible.

Sending out resumes as Word-files looks unprofessional.
Without opening them I KNOW that the sender uses repeated spaces instead of tab to make columns and so on. ;)

it has been a while and I may be out of touch but I would be willing to bet that a very large portion of the resume's that are produced are still done in word.

Yes, you are right! It is. But it is a difference to send that Word-file to an employer or to convert it into PDF first. Never send Word-files.

well, my point was that I believe that most employers would expect the word file as opposed to a pdf and would certainly have word installed to be able to open/read it.

don't know, just guessing.

I think in office environment at least the same number are able to open PDF-files.
PDF-files are hiding the "Word-acrobats" missing formatting skills.
