Is anyone using this on a live site and finding the load manageable?

It's a feature that our users keep asking for - so very excited.

Also, will it be possible to turn off the polling for clients on mobile phones?

There are 3 variables that influence, it's difficult to generalise:
- users active every day
- server
- time of reload

I think that a server free or "little" cannot support perfectly a forum with this ext
The time of reload, configurable from .php file (as soon as possible I'll release a new version with acp module), can be set proportionally to the possibility of server and users active.
I'll try to reduce the use of server at the minimum possible.

Thanks, that sounds great.

For the mobiles - I was just assuming that the reloads might cause an issue with constantly seeking a connection in areas of patchy reception etc - but I don't know what I'm talking about or know how phones manage these things, so if it's not a problem in practice then so much the better.

Bruninoit, good extension, i install it on my life forum and after week of using it, i don't see any big changing with RAM or CPU using on my hosting (I have 1300 - 1800 unique users everyday).

I make russian translation, don't know need it or not but here it is - http://dmyt.ru/forum/download/file.php?id=1482

Wait for update when:

you won't close forum window and when arrive any notification change the title and there is a sound.
