Can post without approval on, but still not working

Post by ChrisZee »

Hi Guys,

I just cannot work out why I need to approve my own posts as an administrator.. even though I have permissions to post without approval..

Anyone have any ideas?

Have you put yourself in a group that requires that permission?
Also check if you have you put yourself in the Newly registered group.

Use the permission mask to find out what the cause could be.

Thanks for your quick reply Elias.

its an old forum and just upgraded it to 3.1.6
Prior to upgrade I didnt need to moderate posts, especially my own as an Administrator.

gone through the permission mask and all looks ok..
I guess I will eventually work out what is going on
Thanks again

I think I figured out what is going on.

Looks like in registered user permissions section, there is no option to allow or disallow posting without moderation.

Must be a glitch?

The mentioned permission is forum-based and can be found in forum permissions, not in global permissions.
Just find the user on your board (in memberlist), click Administer, then select form Permissions, then select a forum and click Go.
Look for Forum permissions section and trace the settings.

Hi Lavigor,

All registered users in forum permissions have full access...just like Admin

When a certain user has problems with permissions, you should check the permissions for that certain user.
I suggested you a way to do that.

Another way is to go to the ACP -> Users and groups -> Users -> Manage users -> Select a user -> Select form: Permissions -> Select a forum -> Look for the Forum permissions.

You can also see the permission masks on the Permissions tab, but the above method is easier.

There are many other types of permissions, group permissions for Registered users is only one of them.

Looks like ticking the box that says all forums doesnt work well on permissions.
adjusting permissions on forums separately seems to work better

You currently have the Global Moderator Group set to have their posts approved.

Go into the ACP > Permissions > Group Forum Permissions
Select Global Moderators
Select all forums
Click on Advanced Permissions
Make sure Can post without approval is set to yes on the right forums.

Let me know if that works.

Thanks
