Download section

Post by SotD » Tue Jan 26, 2016 7:41 pm

Hi guys.

On my website I would really love to have a Download section. As it is now, I can only (as far as I know) let people upload via the attachment mode. And that get's too messy. I would prefer to make specific download areas, where the downloads can be listed down.

Something like this for php-fusion would be great:

http://pcmdaily.com/infusions/pro_downl ... p?catid=98

Even better if it could be made so that members could upload the things, and write a bit about it themselves, while an admin/moderator should accept it.

It would make it easier for me to control serverspace, when to get more space and also make sure quality was up to level.

I have searched a bit but only seem to find people discussing mods from 2009-10. It would be absolutely amazing to have.

Try THIS, although...I'm not sure it allows other than admin to upload to it.

I have just tried it, but it won't install. I have just put it in the "ext" folder, and asked to unzip. But in the admin control panel I can't find it.

You should unzip extensions before you upload them

Maybe - but there are numerous reports on these fora about people having problems, not only with extensions but core phpBB, when unzipping on the server that have been resolved by uploading the unzipped files.

Okay thanks. I will try that then...

Can I just delete the folder that the unzip has created and reupload it myself where I have unzipped from the beginning?

I have tried deleting it, downloading again, unzipping and uploading through filezilla. Everything looks the same as before, and I still can't see it in the ACP.

I just checked out the install. It works fine and shows up in my ACP. Make sure you have uploaded exactly like below:

yourphpBB/ext/oxpus/dl_ext

That means, put the "oxpus" folder, and it's contents, within your forum's "ext" folder.

Thanks. That was the problem!

It seems a bit advanced though, but I guess I will just have to test and trial a bit here :)

That is a very sophisticated download-section. I have been using it for many years now.
It does everything you need!
