Ability to watch live streaming online events/shows

Post by ghost1313 »

Id love the ability to live stream online events/shows viewable through my forum. Not sure how much work this would be but feel the interest in an extension like this would be fairly large. Anyone working on something like this or willing to?

One of the main problems with streaming is that many hosts do not allow it as it uses too much bandwidth

couldn't it be set up to live stream on a certain page without a bunch of separate users opening windows and live streaming it separately?

It also depends on what you want to live stream, you could be breaking the law by theft.

I will do the same.
The Problem is we need to know what kind of equipment you have.
The easiest way is you use Twitch or something similar.

There are some Provider who could make everything for you.
You add some HTML5 Webplayer to your Page and the Company do the rebroadcast thing 99% hidden.

For example that Company do the Streaming Service for the Austrian Television (ORF).

Maybe its cheaper when you talk to an ISP and host your own Server.

I think maybe you don't really understand what "live streaming" is and how it works.

You could work off of this idea:

Can't you just live stream through a YouTube account and have it display using either youtube BB code or using the Media Embed extension.

Media Embed also supports other platforms for live streaming including Facebook (insert the link to the live Facebook video), Ustream and others, see here: http://s9etextformatter.readthedocs.io/ ... bed/Sites/

The data is supplied by the third party site so won't affect bandwidth.
