Post by iorG19 » Tue Dec 27, 2016 11:30 pm

Howdy and Happy Holidays

I wonder if it's possible to change forum id's for existing forums (via) phpMyAdmin... If someone knows, i will apreciate it.

Forum "A" id=1
Forum "B" id=25
Forum "C" id=40

changing to Forum "B" id=2, Forum "C" id=3.

I do it once and i get get errors.

Cheers!

why on earth would you want to do this?
you have to make changes to several different places in several different tables in the database.
then I would assume you would need to resync everything everywhere.
this would be a major amount of work.

what is the benefit to you of changing ID numbers of the forums?

Forget about changing any automatic generated ids like user_id, post_id, forum_id ... - because they are in many tables and need to be consistent in any of them. You can't change the forum_id only in the forums-table, that will break your board.
And don't bother about the value - nobody is really interested in it.

Edit: Robert was faster ...

That's way i get errors, because i made edit in only one table....

both of you have right! Only novice (and dummy) question; cosmetic stuff... that's was the only reason and mybe some better arranged forums.

Thank You!

you can rearrange the forums any way you like from the admin panel. no need to be changing ID numbers. they have no relation to where a forum is situated on the board anyway.
