[ABD] Cookie Policy

Post by david63 »

Extension Name: Cookie Policy
Author: david63

Description: Adds an option for the user to accept the use of cookies, under EU Cookie Directive (2012), on the board.

Extension Version: [RC] 2.1.0-rc2

Requirements: phpBB 3.2.0

Notes:
  • This is an enhanced version of the core phpBB 3.2 "Cookie notice"
  • This is an update for phpBB 3.2 of my Cookie Policy extension for 3.1
  • This version uses a more reliable database lookup
Features:
  • Block all links from being accessed until the Cookie Policy has been accepted
  • Prevent log-in/registration until the Cookie Policy has been accepted
  • Attempts to only show the cookie acceptance for users with an EU IP address
  • Show the cookie acceptance box on either the index page or all pages
  • Position the cookie acceptance box either on the left or right
  • Show the Cookie Policy page link in the bottom nav bar
  • Customise the cookie acceptance box to suit your board colour scheme
  • Customise the Cookie Policy page colours
New:
  • Added option to have rounded corners on Cookie Policy page
Installation:
  • Download the latest release and unzip it.
  • Upload the unzipped files to root/ext/david63/cookiepolicy and enable it in the ACP

Slight error in overall_footer_teamlink_after.html in that the link doesn't point to the cookie info page

3.2 has this built in now see cookie settings in acp.
Hardest thing in life is accepting some one else has done it better.

I am well aware of that but this extension "goes further" and, in my opinion, does not coply with the Cookie Law. Not only that currently it does not work.

Hi,
Using this extension on 3.1.10 on a live forum and I am testing 3.2.0 on another domain

On a new installed forum, the colors are like on the picture and modified parameters for cookie box or cookie page are not used.

Cookie box background is transparent

Same with a English version

In the page source:

Code: Select all

<script>
		var acceptText			= '\x5B\x20I\x20accept\x20\x5D';
		var cookieBoxBdColour	= 'FFFF8A';
		var cookieBoxBdWidth	= '1';
		var cookieBoxBgColour	= 'AB64CC';
		var cookieBoxHrefColour	= 'FFFFFF';
		var cookieBoxTxtColour	= 'CEFF1A';
		var cookieClass			= 'cookie\x2Dbox\x20rightside';
		var cookieExpires		= '0';
		var cookieLink			= 'Cookie\x20Policy';
		var cookieText			= 'This\x20board\x20uses\x20cookies\x20to\x20give\x20you\x20the\x20best\x20and\x20most\x20relevant\x20experience.\x20To\x20use\x20this\x20board\x20this\x20means\x20that\x20you\x20need\x20accept\x20the\x20policy.\x3Cbr\x20\x2F\x3E\x3Cbr\x20\x2F\x3EYou\x20can\x20find\x20out\x20more\x20about\x20the\x20cookies\x20used\x20by\x20clicking\x20the\x20\x22Cookie\x20policy\x22\x20on\x20the\x20main\x20page\x20or\x20the\x20link\x20below.\x3Cbr\x20\x2F\x3E\x3Cbr\x20\x2F\x3E';
		var cookiePage			= '\x2Fapp.php\x2Fcookiepolicy\x2Fpolicy\x3Fsid\x3Dd0db27baf73e97df12f896f353ae478f';
		var phpbbCookieName		= 'phpbb3_a235u';
</script>
On a working site (not mine):

Code: Select all

<script>
		var acceptText			= '[ I accept ]';
		var cookieBoxBdColour	= '#FFFF8A';
		var cookieBoxBdWidth	= '1';
		var cookieBoxBgColour	= '#00608f';
		var cookieBoxHrefColour	= '#ffffff';
		var cookieBoxTxtColour	= '#dbdb00';
		var cookieClass			= 'cookie-box rightside';
		var cookieExpires		= '0';
		var cookieLink			= 'Cookie Policy';
		var cookieText			= 'This forum uses cookies to give you the best and most relevant experience. By using this forum this means that you accept this policy.<br /><br />You can find out more about the cookies used by clicking the \"Cookie policy\" on the main page or the link below.<br /><br />';
		var cookiePage			= '/app.php/cookiepolicy/cookiepage?sid=ae360494982d243886221b4f45afb487';
		var phpbbCookieName		= 'phpbb3_7nf5hs';
</script>
