WIll 3.1 extensions work on 3.2?
Those known to have problems can be found here - viewtopic.php?f=556&t=2400236

That's a huge list, right? As I can see some of the extensions are being updated to 3.2 version.
Another question, is there a built-in feature that opens links in a new tab or we need an extension to make it possible?

From memory there is an extension in the CDB that will do that

Thanks, it works. Will that work on 3.2 version? I also need the name of default style of phpbb.com forums? I used to know the name but I forgot.

Edit: I've found it.

It's highly recommend to properly declare PATH_INFO when using nginx. Take a look at the sample config file for this:
https://github.com/phpbb/phpbb/blob/3.2 ... ample.conf
That's convenient but it's still difficult to troubleshoot for someone that has no coding experience such as myself. I see that's a sample for "Unix". How about a version for "Windows"? How would it be different? What would the following appear as?

Code: Select all

 server unix:/tmp/php.sock;
Would it look like this?

Code: Select all

 server localhost:9000;
I also see this:

Code: Select all

 server_name myforums.com;
Is that link for the website only, is it assuming the forums are in the root director of the website, or is it saying you enter the URL of the forums on the website?

Code: Select all

 server_name mywebsite.com/forums;
Or it it simply this?

Code: Select all

 server_name mywebsite.com;
And what about this?

Code: Select all

root /path/to/phpbb;
Is that supposed to be this?

Code: Select all

root html;
Or this?

Code: Select all

root C:/nginx/html;
Or this?

Code: Select all

root C:/nginx/html/forums;
And shouldn't the following include an index.php?

Code: Select all

 try_files $uri $uri/ @rewriteapp;
So that it looks like this?

Code: Select all

 try_files $uri $uri/ /index.php @rewriteapp;
Or is that completely unnecessary?

I've done so much work to my nginx.config file and yet I still can't upgrade my forums from 3.1.10 to 3.2.0. When I go to the /install/ folder and click "Update", it returns a "500 Internal Server Error". I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

What I would like to know are two things:
  1. What are the issues with my nginx.config file?
  2. How do I get past the 500 Internal Server Error?
This is my topic:

Is this for you? :arrow: Windows + Nginx + PHP + MySQL + phpBB + WordPress + Cloudflare

I went to your board and looked for an hour or so, but did not see the women without underwear.

Good evening and thank you for this wonderful work.

I have read the features page and find this : Syntax Highlighting

After searching on the site, all I could find is this : https://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewforum.php?f=126
Nothing about this anywhere else. :cry:

Did I miss something?

You're right that syntax highlighting by default has been removed from the core phpBB package in 3.2, as the Features page you linked to states. The reason it was removed was because we are now using a revamped BBCode parser. However, it's still easy to implement again using this extension. :)

Tanks Jim.
I had seen this message, but since it dates a little and there is no element on the pages of the site, I did not know if it could be taken as it is. Afterwards, it would be interesting to know if the syntax highlighting will be officially supported in the new versions and how?

On my phpBB 3.1.10 forum, I use an extension that seems abandoned and much probably incompatible with 3.2, so I will have to make a number of changes taking into account the coloring of the code of old messages by a new extension, which represents a certain amount of work. As long as I do, I would not want to do it again with every major upgrade!

Since it is officially announced the management of syntax highlighting, so do with the official version.

If I have to wait a 3.2.10 version, I can wait. ^^

@Marc, i believe it might be a good idea to speak about 3.2's predecessor in the announcement topic.
Inform the users of 3.1, what the release of 3.2 means for them and when it is EOL.

They will wonder about all this when they see the link of the 3.2 announcement in their acp.
Not all phpbb forum owners are active on the community forums to know about previous announcements.

Also im a bit unsure if there will be any 3.1.11 until the EOL. If the maintenance ended, im not sure it will.

Any info on updating from 3.0.X to 3.2?

There may be some typos in the upgrade page. You're mentioning "If updating from phpBB 3.1.x then please see our guide for the recommended updating method.", but then point it to the page belonging to 3.0 to 3.1.

These were only testing releases and are therefore not in the list of versions to update from.
You can find those packages here: https://download.phpbb.com/pub/release/3.2/3.2.0/
