Re: phpBB.com Website Feedback

Within the phpbb.com website, there are a number of instances where the phpBB 3.x upgrade procedure is documented and unfortunately there are differences between each one. This makes it hard for a newer admin to find and follow the upgrade instructions.

There should be one documented location and a common method (KB BBCode?) to link to it so that all other instances should refer to this one.

It is made more difficult because many phpBB posters, including support team members, post instructions without a link to the documented location, thus increasing the number of sets of instructions that an admin may find when searching phpbb.com

same is with language packs.
here:
https://www.phpbb.com/languages/
urls r:
https://www.phpbb.com/customise/...
they should redirect to:
https://www.phpbb.com/community/...
but instead error 404 comes out as result.
when logged in, it redirects me to mine language packs, to all rest it gives me error 404, when logged out, all links, including mine, give error 404.
here:
app.php/db/language_packs-25
urls r:
https://www.phpbb.com/community/...
and they open normaly.
This has now been fixed.

Why does phpBB still think that it is Christmas?

The hover to Customise is sometimes still 3.1 in phpbb-navbar

Select Downloads/Blog/Community/Hosting and hover Customise you see 3.1 info.
Select About/Support/Development and hover Customise you see 3.2 info.

The [3.1.x] Support Forum has an announcement for Common problems while updating.

Are we reaching the point where there are enough "common problems" updating to phpBB 3.2 to consider the creation of a similar topic in [3.2.x] Support Forum?

probably, I propose these two to begin with:

1. do NOT use the autoupdate method of upgrading unless you have been editing the core phpbb code

2. change the dbms line in your config.php file from mysql to mysqli

Kudos first for an amazing project, as I am always awed by many varying web projects that manage to enlist such talented people to work on something for nothing (or next to it) in order to better a community through robust products and services...

THAT being said, I think you may have jumped the gun on your release a bit. If I had not come to the site a month or so ago to try and bring some new life itno an old message board, I would have been very confused.

You have all the 3.2 hype out there with downloads and installation notes, but a lot of the site is lacking 3.2 information; such as the development page. If someone were to be really interested in development of styles or plug-ins, where would they go?

Not to mention not having any themes prepped for the new version. Might have been a good idea to have gotten a few theme developers to commit to having something with the 3.2 stamp of approval ready and waiting before it's release. I love being on the bleeding edge, but I've never been crazy about the stock skin (no offense). It's functional, but just... blah.

All in all I think you've got some great things going here, and I know in few months or so much of this this will be ironed out, but it does make for some chaos and feeling as though we've been given a new video game that is in dire need of some add-ons!

When I "mark all forums read" there is no way to dismiss the modal window (once it uses to have a small x in to corner or I could just click someplace else).

When i try to filter in the extensions db, i get an ajax error "Moved Permanently" in a uncloseable modal window, no matter, if i use the left hand categories filter or the drop down branches filter.
