Nope that didnt work, the only difference is when i installed the icon pack to get the dark colored icons. I downloaded the merge zip, installed it, rechecked the files and same files are not updated. If i just continue the update then it says it completed and then it gives me the twig error when i try to go to the ACP..

I guess i will uninstall the dark colored icon pack then put the original icons back in the file, then try the update again... What a P.I.T.A....

Well even with doing that, it went though the update like a breeze with no file differences at all. But same error after going to acp afterwords... well now what?

Well here is the array, seems to me there needs to be a conditional statement in the code..

Array ( [0] => INCLUDE [1] => INCLUDEPHP [2] => INCLUDEJS [3] => INCLUDECSS )

code line 147

Code: Select all

return preg_replace('#<!-- (' . implode('|', $tokens) . ') (([\'"])?(.*?)\1) -->#', '<!-- $1 $2 -->', $code);

i am trying to do that but now i get

[phpBB Debug] "include(../install/update/index.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory" in file /home/xxxxxxx/public_html/xxxxxx.com/phpbb/install/module/obtain_data/task/obtain_update_files.php on line 77

so im just getting in deeper and deeper. I dont know who approved this for release but you really need to do your due dilligence before you release an update guys. I have one if not the most normal server setups there is Cpanel/Apache, theres nothing special about my server setup, i did it that way to avoid complications so i pay the highway robbery every month that cpanel charges.

There really is no reason at all that an update should fail on my very normal system. So it looks like rather than spend another couple or hours or days trying to figure out the update. Ill just wipe the site completely and do a fresh install of 3.2.1..

Next time folks test more release less... Thanks
Sorry im not being mean, but i had other plans of things to work on tonight and this was not one of them, but i guess it is now. So yes im upset...

Do you follow the instaructions? You need to delete install folder as well as any others and reupload it from the full package too.

Yes i followed the instructions. I been working with PHPBB for many years. I would not say what i said without prior experience of excellence with previous updates that went very smoothly...

I have already wiped the site and the DB... the site is only a few weeks old, i can set it all up again... thats what im doing. Even though it is going toa take me half the night, at least i know there are no guesses.. it will work..

Can you tell us, what package did you download? (with link please)

And how did you perform the update then?

Is there an actual fix to this problem? Anyone knows what's going on?

Today I was updating my 3.2.0 forum to 3.2.1. I did exactly like described in the admin panel, uploaded the install and vendor folder and BOOM, 500 Error... Tried deleting cache, removing stuff, re-uploading. I see the same problems described by the OP here. Twig errors.

Using php 7.1
php-fpm
Apache latest

NOTICE: PHP message: PHP Recoverable fatal error: Object of class Twig_Source could not be converted to string in /usr/local/www/somepath/forum/phpbb/template/twig/lexer.php on line 147

Anyone??

Found the following solution:
Delete all folders exept:
files
images
store
ext
styles
.htaccess
config.php

Prepare the actual full install package by deleting the above folders.
Upload all folders left to your boards root dir.
run install folder and update database only --> youre done.
