Re: Submission for review when archive is too big

Post by MarkDHamill »

This issue is recurring I think. When validating Smartfeed 3.0.9 with MPV I eventually got:
504 Gateway Time-out
The server didn't respond in time.
It could be because the new version is a bit bigger, as the integrated SimplePie library was updated. If you want to download it for testing, it's on GitHub here.

The archive is 1.74MB, expanded it is 3.3MB (7MB on disk).

I have not heard if this issue was fixed. Any update? I'd like to resubmit my Smartfeed extension.

Is it still 3.3MB?

Well, this issue is still open. I just completed version 3.0.10 of my Smartfeed extension and got a HTTP 504 error uploading it for extension review team review:
504 Gateway Time-out
The server didn't respond in time.
The archive is about 2.1MB in size and includes the SimplePie library, which is mainly why it's so big. It can be download here if you want to give it a try.

I can't get a new version of this extension checked and approved until this issue is resolved.

You’re uploading the vendor folder aswell. That should be populated by the composer upon installation.

I believe that is not the current procedure but will be in 3.3/4.0 (not sure which) as there is no mechanism to install via composer at the moment, therefore a vendor folder is valid.

That certainly was the case in the past. I'd just as soon not include it if that's an option.

Not an option until phpBB 4.0 when that will become the new way of working.

It would be nice to know someone was working on this.

Just so I know what to try you're able to upload the archive but then validation times out, correct? We have been working on updating the cdb for some other things and will be finishing that up, although that will probably not help this.

It happens after the upload (or perhaps after a false positive upload) when you get the "New revision ready for processing" and press the Continue button.

Alright CDB is currently on the latest code. Can you try uploading again? If it doesn't work please provide the latest archive so I can try a few things.

Seems to be using up a tad bit much of memory during the package processing causing out of memory errors. I'm trying to figure out a way around this, perhaps a way for queue managers to submit the extension for users while overriding the checks that are done during processing.
