User cannot "compose" private message

Post by morkus » Mon May 28, 2018 5:50 pm

Unexpected error below.

1. I do not have recently added users to the permissions and Registered Users have "full access".

2. I also have that all users can send private messages, when I test one of the users with a compose private message, I get this:

Compose message

We are sorry, but you are not authorised to use this feature. You may have just registered here and may need to participate more in discussions to be able to use this feature.

What do I need to check to enable private messaging?

Is there some other security feature at play for new users when it comes to private messaging?

Thanks.

What is your setting in the ACP, User registration, New member post limit? If it is more than zero, change it to zero and remove your test account from the Newly registered users group and test again.

I see. I think I was confused.

Since I don't have the "newly created users" in any forum security groups, I had believed that those settings would not apply.

However, what you are saying makes total sense since as another user who has posted several times, works fine with compose. I guess the error message, as others have stated, isn't clear what's going on.

I'll leave it at 3. I already have 105 users in just over a day, but nobody is really posting yet...

Thanks very much for your prompt reply.

This forum rocks! :ugeek:

probably most of those members are going to be spammers. you probably do not have a good anti spam measuer setup.

what is the link to your board?

If you have 105 users in a day, something is wrong with your spam question. For the third time, can we have a link to your board to help you with your Q&A?

There is no need to set the New member post limit to 3. 1 is fine.

All,

Not getting any spam at all.

The reason for the immense response and join rate is that the old listserve was the recruiting method.

Thanks.

I have asked four times (including now) for a link to your board. Is there some reason you cannot give us one?
