Is the dst change automatic?

Post by Bruce Banner » Sun Sep 30, 2018 4:43 pm

I'm setting the time I want to be displayed to the Anonymous user. When the clocks go forward at the end of next month, will I have to change the setting manually, or will it go forward by itself?

Yes - if you have the correct time zone set. The same applies to your members, they too need to have the correct time zone set.

Great, thanks.

EDIT: BACKward, I meant to say, not forward.

The actual answer to this is that it depends on when the clocks go back in the time zone you have set for the Anonymous user.

you have set for the Anonymous user.
Setting a specific timezone for the Anonymous user has no effect, because during user setup for the Anonymous user the timezone is set to the board's timezone, see phpbb/user.php around line 147

Then that is how the Anonymous user's timezone is set. By setting the board zone.

From a logical point of view it is the other way round - guest's timezone is same as board's timezone ;)
