Add required fields or info when users posts a new Topic?

Post by jgs240 » Mon Oct 22, 2018 8:42 pm

Is anyone aware of a built in feature or extension that allows the admin of a board to create new, required fields (similar to how "subject" is required) on a per forum basis?

The use case is this:

I run a forum for a geographically local community, in which members can buy/sell items to each other. Requiring the users to post a city and a price in the topic when listing items for sale makes browsing for items much easier than if these details are left out. While I can make a sticky telling everyone to please include this info, we all know that forcing a user to put this info into the topic will be more effective.

This might do what you want.
https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... emplate_4/
It prefills the posting box with a BBcode template for whatever items you want people to fill in.

It's for 3.1.x but should work ok although you might want to try it on a test install first.
