Converted Site. Users cannot post anywhere

Post by Nick225 »

Just converted my phpbb2 forum and trying to give users access.
I have been reading about access, groups, etc.. Still can't figure it out.
I can't drag and drop users on the forum permission page. Nothing moves. Users cannot access any forum. How do I open up the forum?

how did you convert? if you used the built in conversion tool then all your users should have immedeate access and should be able to post etc.

make sure they are all in the registered users group and not in the newly registered user group. make sure the only user in the guest group is the anonymous user and that the anonymous user is not in any group other than the guest group.

Thanks Robert. did a test test forum before converting. I used the Built-in converter. And it loaded all the users, the groups, etc.
I thought it was all done. But I just got email from users. They can't log on or even post.
From the ACP Forum permissions page. I see the boxes to drag and drop the users in. But the drag/drop doesn't work. Not sure how else to give them access.

Oh I just found the page to set Full or Standard access Yes/No page. I don't know how I got there. This phpbb3 is so slick. Not sure how it all works.. Been reading the forum and getting more confused.
These guys are doing an EXCELLENT job.

There is no drag and drop function in the admin panel.

permissions
group forum permissions
registered users
choose the forums (you might have to do groups of 5-6)
standard access

Assuming everyone is in the registered users group, that will set them up to be able to post.

As the site owner you want to also be in the administrators and global moderators groups.

Manage groups
click members next to the group name and then you can type in your username or click 'find a member' and find yourself on the memberlist.

Thanks.. I guess the phpbb2 group permissions did not convert. How do I handle a private forum?/....a private for certain groups only?

Thanks Kevin. I am looking.
I found this page but the info is different.. I don't see "Global Permission". That info got to be from an older version.
https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3 ... ca1251823b

So many issues... I tried a different style.. placed it nicely alongside Prosilver in the style. But i didn't show up in ACP. Tried another one: same issue.. and a 3rd one. The same. So I removed all of them. Will give it some rest. I have issues applying extensions.. So I don't get the Style drama.. :)

Better if you screenshot what you do have.
It may be that your admin account doesn't have enough permissions assigned to it to do that.

You can only install styles made for 3.2 if that's what you're running. Also make sure they're uploaded in the same folder hierarchy as the prosilver folder in /styles

Thanks for the reply.
Here is the picture. Image
The style looks in the right place.
And this is what the ACP looks like: Image

The other problem where existing using cannot log on is still spending.
I think I know what's going on. I created a new user account. And he was able to connect after activation. So maybe all the activation were turned off during the convert...
I think I need to find a sql query to activate everyone who's account is at least 30 days old.. (Some hackers were attacking my old site the last month so I deactivate their accounts.. Don't want to bring them back)

The only style I can find called Oxygen was made for 3.0.x.
If it has a folder in it called /imageset then it's definitely a 3.0 style.

You can only use 3.2.x styles
