Remove from newly registered groups options only for admins ?

Post by exxos »

Is it possible to allow permission for a moderator group for example, to be able to remove users from the newly registered list ? Currently seems only admins can do that and can't figure out why ?

No, that needs to be done via ACP.

The point of that group is that it's pretty much automated. When people hit the required number of posts they drop out of it automatically. It doesn't really need any active involvement.

Not when you want people to remain on the moderated list until they are know not to be a idiot. So the automated count doesn't help in this case. Just it be easier if moderators can have access to that rather than just admins.

You can go into Manage groups and edit the Newly Registered Users group.
Checkmark "Exempt group leader from permissions"
Add your moderators to the Registered Users group as group leaders. Then they can remove the users from their UCP on their Groups tab.

Found how to do it from this old post in case it helps anyone else out in the future.

viewtopic.php?t=2120145#p12949067

Basically lets you add some basic admin stuff into global moderators permissions.

If you give your moderators admin permissions for usergroups then they will be able to add or delete anyone from any group, or even create new groups if they want. If you give them Manage Users permissions they will be able to do alot more than just delete them from a group.

You are better-off just making them a Group Leader as I explained.

I didn't see that post, it never appeared before I wrote my reply for some reason

They only have access to the quick tools, not add or delete groups etc anyway.

If you give them Admin permissions, as explained in the topic you linked, they will have access to the Admin control panel, which will give them all of those admin functions.

You can put the Moderators in a group which had the Admin permissions role "User and Groups Admin".

Indeed. That is what the topic he linked above shows. I don't think I would give me Moderators User Admin or Group Admin permissions just so they can remove users from one group.

Yes, for the limited capabilities he needs, making them Group leaders would be much better.
