Calendar feature

Post by lillalisa »

Why is there no calendar feature in the core of phpbb3? It's the one thing missing for me and the many many hours I've googled left no results what so ever. At least no functioning one. Anybody has any ideas how to get one that does not involve abandoned and or non working extensions.

there have been calendar MODs and extesions over the years but apparently they are not popular enough to keep updating etc by their authors.

the main reason a calendar is not part of the phpbb code is that the original and still valid concept of phpbb is to make a basic bulletin board system. that requires forums and posts and not much else.
anything else is an addon. that includes a calendar.

I would assume the reason why you can't find too much about a current calendar extension is because there is apparently not that much interest in one.

So am I. I would have a good use of a calendar feature in my board.
The ext mentioned above seems not to be ported to 3.3 - and it seemingly had no group permission settings.

I for one would be extremely interested in a calendar extension. one that would allow you to make a normal post in a forum and then you add details and then it gets added to an actual calendar looking calendar. I used one in 3.2 before but I am no longer a member of that board so I don't remember the extension name nor do I know if it would work in 3.3. That extension had a few issues that I couldn't get fixed either but was mostly functional

There's a complex calendar extension already in development with all (or almost) these features.
It can be found here:

Isn't that the one where you have to upload and install many different extensions to get it to work?

Never really used it.
I am not sure if you need all of them installed for it to work or if you can install what you need.

Maybe ask in the extension's topic and see what the author or members using it have to say.

Thanks
