Trying to change forum read/unread images

Post by ryecon »

I uploaded and overwrote existing forum_read.png and forum_unread.png files in the styles/<theme name>/theme/images directory of the current theme but no changes take place.

I see the path when inspecting the code. Why do the images not change?

So I deleted the image folder for the theme... and all the images are still there and the theme works????????

Is there a way to change the forum read, unread, link... in phpBB 3.2?

Thanks.

I purged cache in acp.

I have not used phpbb or vbul in years, but I could customize anything.

Now I have deleted the image folder in prosilver theme, purged cache... and theme still works and images are all still there.

How do you change images in a theme? Is there a tutorial on customizing phpbb somewhere?

Thanks.

and it is possible that the host has some caching going on like cloudfare that takes some time to clear.

you replace the images with images of the same file type and file name by just uploading to let them overwrite the ones that are there.
or,
if you are changing from one file type to another then you have to just upload the new images to the folder and then edit the relevant css file( s) to change the file type extension. most of the time that will be in the colours.css file.

Thank you all for the replies. I am getting there!

Seems every change I make I need to purge forum cache AND browser cache. Did not realize I would have to do that.

Now if I could just figure out permissions and custom groups... lol.

Regards.
