Cannot log into ACP

Post by Shadoefax »

It's been several weeks since I've logged into the ACP on my phpBB forum (https://www.customsoftwareconsult.com/forum/index.php). When I tried today, I am prompted for my credentials and it appears they are accepted (I get the interstitial page that reads "You have successfully authenticated and will now be redirected to the Administration Control Panel.". But after a second or two, I'm redirected back to the ACP login page.

I've tried clearing my local cookies but it did not help.

I've tried using the STK tool (customsoftwareconsult.com/forum/stk/index.php). It accepts my credentials and I get the "You have been successfully logged in", but immediately returns back to the login page. I've tried the "generate a new password file" routine (and uploaded the 'passwd.php' to the STK folder), but the password I'm given is not accepted.

Can anyone help?

ETA: I am currently running phpBB v3.0.x (cannot determine the exact version because I can't get into the ACP)

Your Cookie Secure is set to "No". Try logging in using http rather than https

There is no difference between 'http' and 'https' urls. Problem still exists.

When I try to go to "http://customsoftwareconsult.com/forum/adm/index.php", the page does not load (just blank, no error message).

How can I change the "Cookie Secure" option?

Just prior to this issue, I was unable to logout of the forum. Clearing my local cookies seemed to fix that problem, but not the ACP problem.

I can access my phpbb_* files via my domain cPanel. Is there a table or entry that I can clear to fix this problem?

No. You cannot go to that URL. It needs the sid=xxxxx parameter.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can fix this? I'm been using phpBB for about 15 years and have never had this problem before.

Support for phpBB 3.0 ceased over two years ago.

You should upgrade to the latest version.
