I've had no luck whatsoever tying to upgrade from 3.2.8
Tried update method which normally works, and the full install method as mentioned above.
Failed miserably.
Depressed now.
[SPLIT]issue upgrading from 3.2.5 to 3.3.0

Which error message did you get? Anything related to extensions?
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
