Site Logo; How do I change this in 3.3?

Hi,

I always renamed my logo "site_logo.gif" before uploading to styles/.../.../img. But I see the phpBB logo is now named site_logo.svg and the code in "common.css" is different. I also used to change the dimensions and padding.

Could you tell me what to do now please.

Either make an .svg image,
or covert an image to .svg
A quick search for a free converter came up with https://image.online-convert.com/convert-to-svg

The procedure documented in the knowledge base article Knowledge Base - How to change your board logo from phpBB 3.2 still works for me on my phpBB 3.3 testbed setup.

Interesting..... tis the only problemo that I still haven't managed to fix since migrating to 3.3.x

Have purged the cache from the ADM CPL, cleared browser cache etc etc etc, but am still showing a corrupt image on the forum. Got me baffled at the moment..... File is fine locally. Oddly odd. File is called site_logo.png and has been working fine for as long as I can remember.

It looks like your site_logo file is corrupt (on the live board) see:



Make sure you have the dimensions correct as well.

Yup, that's what I said !!

That's the odd bit, I've downloaded that file from the board, and it's ok and wholly intact ! Even if I browse to it using ftp in explorer and not filezilla and it opens just fine. Really odd. I'm going for a beer.

I had trouble converting my previous gif file to svg with some of the online converters but the one linked above was the one that worked properly. I would recommend using that as well.

just to check , why not pick any known good svg image and try it to see if the problem is your particular image.

There’s no dying need for it to be an svg, especially for testing. In two cases yesterday I replaced the ‘new’ phpBB site_logo.svg with a png as was the case with dwbrown above, but without issue.

OK, bizarre.

Filezilla was set correctly to handle transfers.

I went back to Windoze File Explorer and ftp'd into the site.
I deleted the png file yet again.
Then uploaded the original one more time with a simple drag and drop between folders.
Bingo - all present and correct.

Thank you for all replies.

I followed the recommended link to Online-Convert and converted my .gif logo to .svg The size of the .svg file is shown as 516B, so presumably there is an .svg image. However, I cannot view the .svg image in any browser, it seems to be invisible.

I uploaded the site_logo.svg file to my server and amended the dimensions and padding in common.css, but the logo isn't visible.

1. Have you tried using a gif or jpg to test?
2. How does it go if you restore the original svg?
3. It shouldn’t make any difference what flavour of image you use.
4. Presumably you carried out all the usual purging of the board and browser caches?
5. Can you post a link to your board so we can have a look please? (got it)
6. I’m not certain what’s been done to enable svg’s so you may have to ask in styles.

Edit: I browsed to your logo but it was blank. Try a gif and see what happens.
