Old topics up

Post by incredibleasia »

Is there a way to bring old topics up so that new members see them easier and add their answers?

I saw a button to bump topic and clicked on it, I can see that this topic moved to the first page but the date of the last reply changed to today, is it normal? Will it change the dates for all last replies?

It's largely up to the user and how they order the topics they're looking at with their own personal settings. You could really annoy people if topics they've already seen start jumping back up to the top and looking like they've got new replies when they haven't.

Actually a lot of my members asked if it is possible automatically push up the old topics that's why I asked. Most of the members don't even open other pages and mostly reply to the topics on the first one so the rest are simply forgotten.

but the date of the last reply changed to today, is it normal?
that is normal. through it bumped topic gets priority to display at top.
Will it change the dates for all last replies?
only for the bumped topics.

only specific usergroup should have bumping topic privilege.
not for all the users.

Why don't you 'sticky' the post and it will stay at top until you unsticky it.
There's also the topic cement extension that you can use.

Maybe you need to explain more.

What are the topics about such that the users are too lazy to just go and find them by a search or look back a couple of pages that they then expect you to go and find them instead and then spend a lot of time bumping them?

Is it possible to change the date of the last reply back to the one it was earlier? Where can I do it?

Thanks for the link, it can be done only via extension, right?
