Is cross-site user integration still supported?

Post by protocolprowler »

I've got a large user database on my site and would really like to add phpbb into it. I'm in need a way to integrate my users into phpbb users. I've got some great code examples and guide of this working on v3.0 but haven't found anything like this for the latest v3.3 that I just installed to try it out.

Is cross-site user integration still something that could be supported under v3.3 or would I be forced to dust off an older release and run that?

Thanks in advance for your time.

The operative word there is could. Currently I am not aware of any generic script or extension that will allow a bridge between a custom database and phpBB.

If by that you are referring to phpBB 3.0.x then in reality that is not an option as it will not run on the latest releases of PHP.

Not being aware of what your set up is you may be able to use Oauth

Thanks for your reply. I found the following guide on using your own login system/user db to login users to PHPbb.
https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3 ... ntegration

The write appears to have been written in 2008 and I'm having trouble when I try to use it against my v3.3 of PHPbb currently installed. Has anyone got something like this working in v3.3?

Any help and/or feedback you can provide is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Would LDAP work for you? It is natively supported.

That's actually just login but not accounts registration.
There's an example script which I did for myself that could give an idea about login (not registration) integration. Works with phpBB 3.2/3.3.
