question #3 - post report

Post by php_BB_Lover »

Hi,

#3. When a user reports a post, it doesn't show user's ip to the moderator. It only says: Reported by Anonymous
how to fix to show the user's ip to moderator?

Thanks

That suggests you have given the guest group or anonymous account the ability to report posts. That doesn't make much sense to allow that.

In fact that is asking for trouble as you will get every idiot on the Internet (and there are plenty of them) reporting posts just because they can

a logical conclusion?

You didn't choose phpBB_lover as username because (I presume) you haven't used phpBB before (which would explain a certain lack of knowledge about the basic working of phpBB).
Reading the User Guide could help in that respect (and just in case: certain images aren't shown in the version for 3.3, but thay are in the 3.2 version).
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

Alright, i changed my mind and disabled guests to be able to report posts. Now i can see user's username when report a post.
Please give solved mark to this topic. Technically it didn't solve, but lets mark it as solved.

just so you know, IPs don't tell you anything about a person except their ISP and maybe, just maybe, the city they are in.
currently my IP shows me to be either in Dallas or 'Fortworth texas. I am really several hundred miles away from the metroplex.
