How can I use that in my forum?

upload the images to for example:
phpbbroot/images/ranks/
dont forget to also put a index.html in there(security).
then simply like to them like:
/images/ranks/image1.gif
(this only counts if your folder is in your phpbbroot if it is outside the phpbbroot then you have to include the entire imagepath)

unzip the package to your local hard drive
2:
upload the images into:
phpbbroot/images/ranks/
NOTE: this folder does not exist so you have to create it.
3:
For security issues copy one of the index.html files and put it into the ranks folder.
4:
go to your ACP -> Usermanagement -> ranks.
5:
edit/add a rank and use the following image path for the image:
/images/ranks/image.gif

Do you have the PSD for these, im using them on my forum but would like to make some more ones with text on for other ranks?

Sorry, I know this has little to do specifically with 'apple ranks'. But I'm having a little trouble too.

I have, 'phppbb/images/ranks' files, and I'm typing in the full file name (with .gif). But under the usernames there is the white box with red cross, and next to the white box is the rank title. It seems to be finding the picture all right, but not showing it.

Should I make the 'phpbbroot/images/ranks' files? Is there some other problem? Is my server having a bad file day?

The path you give needs to be relative to the folder where phpBB is installed. So it sounds as though you should be using images/ranks/foo.gif when putting it into the relevant box.

That's exactly what I've done (among other attempts). I'll try a different batch of pictures for ranks and see how I go. Thanks for your help anyhow.

If you go into your rank images setup and type the file name in relation to phpBB it shoul appear below however it does not appear on the forum.

I had this problem recently and found if you type the full URL to the image it works on the forum but not on the ranks page!!

So I recommend typing the address as a full URL e.g.
http://abasicguide.byethost.com/phpBB2/ ... rangad.gif
on the ranks page but do not be discouraged when it does not appear below it probably (if you have the URL correct) will work on the forum and profiles.

I thought I should give it another go, exactly the same as before, but without the / in front of the word 'images' and it worked. Then after all that, my lovely girlfriend pointed out that some people don't like having a rank imposed upon them, or something that pressures them to contribute. Hmm... point taken. So I'm currently thinking of 'nice' alternatives.

Don't get me wrong, Apple ranks looks great. I'm not currently using them, but it might be 'nicer'.
