The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again.

Post by billhopkinson »

I launched my phpbb board today and all looked good.
Someone did a user test, and managed to register but their post did not go into the forum.
So I went back to the board to check, and it required me to log in again, but my username and password failed with the response The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again.. So I tried to get a fresh password, and again The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again.

Any ideas what is going wrong, and how I get back into my new board?

OK, so on Microsoft Edge, I do not get the invalid message, and I can log in as normal. Not so on Chrome, even when logged out on Edge. Any ideas how to fix Chrome login?
And, in Administrator on Edge, I found that I needed to approve a post from my user tester - I can't see a place to switch that off.

Clear the browser cache, close and restart browser. Should work then

A prior cookie containing a session ID that is no longer valid seems to be what causes trouble like this, even though that's an expected scenario.

"Clearing the cache" was mentioned, but cookies are cleared from a separate area. You can see and delete the cookies by clicking beside the URL in the Chrome address bar, and entering the cookie management from there. In this screen shot, I've circled in red the places you would be clicking.

You could also instead try using the "Delete Cookies" link at the bottom of your phpBB site's index page, in case that's easier.

I cleared cookies, and still cannot login on Chrome. Changed to allow all cookies and still cannot login :?

But removing the "allowed cookie" found to the left of the URL bar worked :D

For the need to approve, in ACP, User registration settings, set New member post limit to zero and remove all members from the Newly registered users group.
I can stop all your spam. I can upgrade or update your Board. PM or email me. (Paid support)

I am having the same issue with all users
Hosted on Infomaniak
PHBBB 3.3.3
PHP version 7.4
I have tried clearing all cache/cookies from browsers on two different systems and get the same results.
Edge, Chrome, FF, Dissenter, Brave. All get the same results.
I can FTP into the site and I can use phpmyadmin to access the database.

I was able to restore to a very old backup and it worked for a bit but the problem returned.
Unable to access ucp or acp at all.

Most of the advice is to clear your cache. Trying that doesn't work. Not sure what else to do.
