Extension for marking For Sale topics as 'Sold'

Post by mungbean »

I have been doing some searching and not finding what I need. Lots of posts are years old or abandoned.

I have used the prefix extension to make sure items that people sell are marked correctly but I don't want to use this to have the topic edited.

I simply want to have the tooic marked with 'SOLD' somehow, so the topic information is retained but people can easily see it marked as SOLD.

Is there an extension that could do this?

Thank you

Use a topic icon?

I considered this but the steps required for a user to go back to their first post, click edit, find the topic icon option, select the right one, it seems cumbersome. The process has to be quick and easy for users to do, to enforce them actually doing it.

I know some help forums use a 'mark as solved' option which I could potentially edit the text to 'sold' instead.

Is there a good active one of these available perhaps?

I have installed this as a temporary solution but it still requires the above steps. Someone has to go back and edit their original post and change a lot rather than a simple click to mark as sold somehow.

So how do you envisage this working if you do not edit the first post?

Some kind of option for 'Click here to mark as sold' and it does a combination of the above or appends a flair or tag to the thread.

How about something like this? ...

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

You can create a custom theme and you could apply to that forum, in fact the only thing you would need to do is change the topic icons files. Change the locked icon file to "Sold" and then allow users to lock their own topic in that section.

Optionally you can set it so they can delete the post but you also need to set it so no one can reply to topics. They can't delete a post with forum permissions once there is reply.

A button like that which performs the function of appending the original thread with a [SOLD] tag is perfect.

What is that and where can I find it to add? Although I just need it to add the [SOLD] text to the thread title, not lock it

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Topic Solved extension,

Most of us will enjoy Christmas in the comfort of our own homes this year, however, sadly, that can't be said for people in the Ukraine who are suffering day after day, due to the Russian invasion.

If you would like to make a small donation to help Ukrainians in their time of need, you can donate to help all Ukrainians via BritishRedCross or you can donate to help the Ukrainian children via Unicef. 🇺🇦 Thank You 🇺🇦

It’s extremely old and the author has not been active since 2020. This topic is solved. 👍
