After 3.3.8 update...

Post by johns1124 »

After I updated to 3.3.8 I am getting the following error:
"Warning: require(./includes/startup.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/theca12/public_html/common.php on line 23

Warning: require(./includes/startup.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/theca12/public_html/common.php on line 23

Fatal error: require(): Failed opening required './includes/startup.php' (include_path='.:/opt/alt/php72/usr/share/pear') in /home/theca12/public_html/common.php on line 23
Error if I go to: www.thecappersforum.com

but if I go directly to: http://www.thecappersforum.com/phpBB3/index.php

Everything works just fine. I have tested posting and all. Just if I go to the main www.thecappersforum.com. Any ideas? I did some research and cannot find the solution.

Thanks, John

Looks as if you have at least one file missing - in this case includes/startup.php, but there may be others.

Startup.php is there. If I was missing those files why would it work perfectly here:

I edited the post title (3.3.8 <> 3.8.8). Could you edit the topic_title.

Well?, because your boardfiles are all in /phpBB3.
Or better, they were, as I'm getting errors now (didn't 2 minutes ago).
When updating? Are you sure you uploaded the files to the correct directory (perhaps you should have uploaded the contents of /phpBB3 instead of the whole directory /phpBB3

Now I'm getting:
Fatal error: Composer dependencies have not been set up yet, run 'php ../composer.phar install' from the phpBB directory to do so. in /home/theca12/public_html/phpBB3/includes/startup.php on line 80

I was updating again. So it works now at:

http://www.thecappersforum.com/phpBB3/

I just remembered that my hosting provider did something to my htaccess yesterday. I have a feeling they left off a path or a redirect. I'm consulting with them now. A quick for for me could be a php redirect from my hosting root dir, or a forward address from my domain DNS. Both don't seem too appealing. I do believe it must be with the htaccess.

if you are redirecting thecappersforum.com to the phpBB3 directory then you could just install your board in your public_html directory to start with.

just move all of the files/folders from the phpBB3 directory into your root. not the phpBB3 folder but all the files/folders inside it.

then, adjust your cookies if needed and eleminate all the redirects etc.
