Forum structure

Post by Hervé »

Hi,
Something I don't understand about the structure of my forum which is built like this
  1. Category : Techniques Récifales
    1. Forum : L'eau
    2. Forum : Les substrats
    3. Category : Le matériel
      1. Forum : Eclairage
      2. Forum : Circulation de l'eau
      3. ...
where does the term Forum (with 2 yellow ?) come from ?
Where can I change it ?

Many thanks in advance

You've probably set the forum type for 'Techniques Récifales' as forum instead of category.

You can change that by editing it in manage forums > click the green cog icon.

The picture in the first post doesn't seem to be the layout you're suggesting in the text. The second category (not usual to have a category inside a category by the way) is named the right way with the forums in it but not the one above it.

Does it look correct in Prosilver?

Thats's my question : the text is what I would like to do, the picture is the result.
The category C is named "Le matériel" but the 2 forums A and B are put into a category named "Forum" which I have not defined.
If I could only put another name that "Forum" it would be all right.

The word ‘Forum’ is generated automatically, look here, any forum under a category has the designation ‘Forum’.

Ah Mick has just twigged with me what you're showing in that first screenshot.

You've clicked on the category to show that view which is then, as Mick says, the first 2 forums (so it's titled correctly) and then the next category within that is shown underneath.

So yes, it's displaying correctly.

OK, I think then that I should put the 2 forums A & B in their own category names as I want like this, right ?
  1. Category : Techniques Récifales
    1. Category with the name I want to see
      1. Forum : L'eau
      2. Forum : Les substrats
    2. Category : Le matériel
      1. Forum : Eclairage
      2. Forum : Circulation de l'eau
      3. ...
So I should create a new category A and move the 2 forums A1 and A2 into it.
Does moving a forum into a category alter its content ?

There isn’t one, we do it by editing the first post and clicking on the Image post icon. I usually add ‘Solved’ as an editing reason too.
