View soft deleted posts

Post by Hervé »

Hi,
As admin I was able to view the soft deleted posts.
Now I see only "Message from X deleted by Y at date/time", no more button to display the post.
I have asked a moderator : he does not see the message neither.

Thanks to help me showing the display button again.

Maybe someone deleted it, have a look in the moderator logs. Make a test post, soft delete it and delete it and see what happens. BTW - being admin only gives you access to the ACP, deleting etc. is a moderator role.

I'm sure the posts have not been deleted as I can see them in the DB with post_visibility = 2.
I am the founder, I have access to both ACP and MCP.
I think the problem is a question of permission but I dont find where I can authorize viewing soft deleted posts.

As Mick proposed.

Make a test post.
Then delete it, do not tick the delete permanently.
Then go to MCP > Moderation Queue > deleted posts
You can also check the Moderator logs

On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

Done, in the moderation history I see that I have deleted the message and I can clic on "view the message" but then I only see
"Message from X deleted by Y at date/time"
I can not display the message text, that's the problem.

What are your Can approve and restore posts permissions?
Do a trace on the permission mask (on your username).

Also check Global Moderator permissions, specifically look for Can soft delete posts in the Post actions tab (screenshot below).

IIRC I long ago posted about the fact that when this functionality was introduced, during a board upgrade the permissions were not added during the upgrade and only later we discovered they needed to be added manually.

Are you looking at the permission settings or the permission mask - the mask is where you should be looking.

I had a forum on 3.3.5 that was working perfectly, now after 3.3.9 update I have the same issue. On the viewtopic, it appears the indication the post was soft deleted, but I am not able to see anymore the post itself. Before on 3.3.5 I was able (as admin or moderator with correct permissions) to see the post and to restore / delete that softdeleted post, from the viewtopic. At 3.3.9 I can only see the post on the moderator panel.

So it seems something changed between 3.3.5 and 3.3.9 regarding this.

Solution here: viewtopic.php?p=15923321#p15923321

Yes the style templates have evolved, a forum in version 3.3.9 with a style in version 3.3.5 can only encounter errors. This rule has been the same since the dawn of time
