This topic has been absolutely hammered to death, we are on 3.3 now so people cannot 'consider' being a 3.0 refugee, they either are a 3.0 refugee or they are not, if they are - given it's now 7 years later... no amount of discussion is going to change their minds.

If they want to continue using the old that's fine, if they want to use the new that's fine too, this site choosing not to support it is the right decision, programmers like to improve on things, they can't move on and retain the ambition of making that programme even better if they are being held back by the past and wasting their time on old versions.

I'm surprised the mods haven't killed the topic and just stuck a link to phpBB3 refugees on the end.

The quality of this board of late seems to be deteriorating, there seems to be a trend of people who just 'revive old topics' for no reason, or people using another account to reply to posts they made with their old account to get around the double posting rule when they could just edit their post.

Why would they? It's not like we're hurling insults and snide remarks around, nor is it a topic that can result in post count whoring.

We don't "kill" topics just because. No rules have been broken and the topic hasn't degraded as mentioned above.

We may not respond to every topic, but we do read them. 😉

I have spent a huge amount in personalized MODs. The site is heavily used and visited and will turn 20 next year.
I am planning to upgrade, but ... you know ... never change a running system ... I am hesitating! And it will cost me another fortune. :D
Then it obviously makes sense to keep it as it is. I'm just saying it doesn't make the most sense to create a brand new site or have a site that is only a few years old with little in the way of MODs, and using such an old version. There is a user who is doing that here.

Is this site still being maintained? It looks overrun with spam.

I noticed that a couple of days ago when I checked in there.
I forget who it was from here that took that site on a year or so ago but they don't seem to be doing a very good job of maintaining it.
shame.

It may help if they stop allowing guest posting and tighten up the Q&A.

There is a grand total of 44 topics on that site over almost 2 years, presumably half of them are spam. Nothing is going to fix that. ;) It appears it has just been abandoned, you would think they would of at least shut it down.

Almost 2400 users not having posted once, but with a website filled into their profile, which is most likely a great SEO thing. The prime member has been away for 10 months and his posts aren't that professional/helpful either.

I remember in 2015 Danielx64 and DionDesigns were members I talked to; there was also the website http://php-bbdr.com which at least survived until 2018... Looks like I haven't missed anything on both.

Or handed it over to someone else.

For better or worse, I emailed Last Man Standing on whether he will be willing to sell the site or something.

There probably won't be a response, but it doesn't hurt to try.

If you are that interested it looks like the domain registration expires in July. If you go to your domain registrar they usually have an option to try an obtain it when it expires assuming it's not renewed by the owner.

I don’t understand why the site exist. The whole point is to support 3.0 forums, yet it also claims to support 3.1 users as well.

At that point you may as well open up to 3.2 on top. But having said that the site is clearly abandoned so there’s no point in using it.

I’m sure someone could register a new domain to continue the 3.0 legacy if they really wanted to.

If I were to control the site (I don't and the admin is awol), I would certainly have a 3.2 support forum on it. The whole point of the site would be to help support versions of phpBB3 that are no longer supported.

Do you think he is likely to renew it or has autorenewal? Abandoned doesn't always mean it will go offline due to services expiring anytime soon.
