New forum regular view and permissions

Post by lunarious87 »

Hello, Salām

I can see under [ACP and Forum tab] a certian Forum, but I can not make it show on regular view.

My forum is new now. I had similar problem before in the beginnings and I recieved help but I don't remember... It has something to do with permissions but I have NEVEr used permission tab almost.

Any suggestions?

Hello.

ACP > Permissions > Forum Permissions > Select the forum in question and press submit > and set up group permissions on the next screen.

Usually it's as easy as setting bots to bot access, guests to read only access, and registered users being given standard access or standard access plus polls, and Newly registered users getting Newly registered user access.

Then giving your staff groups full access.

Are you sure it's a forum and not just a category with nothing in it?

You are both very helpful and inspiring. I apologize not "returning" to work in a long time, we might call it a warriors pause as my Mom calls it, but let's not have more than neccesary of such.

I'll look into it straight away.

Hello mr. Dimetrodon

I tried one thing, I selected Combat forum which i to set "No to all" at Setting Permission page. I tested it while I was not logged in and it worked, the Combat forum was not visible to guests.

Is there a FAQ page where I can read in boring detail about how to do things in Permission tab?

and kevc's reply above is talking about the fact that if you create a forum of the type category but there are no forums under that category then
it will not show up on the index. you will see it in the admin panel but not on the index until you create at least one forum with that category as parent.
