cannot run phpbb forum on my server??

Post by thehazzard »

Hi all,

i have an question regarding phpbb339 and my webshop (opencart v3.0.3.8) i wanted to use the phpbb for having like an help/support board where people can find detailed information, howtos etc.

So i managed to upload/install/configure phpbb339 on my server, and the acp is working fine somehow.

But for example if you go back on the homepage and want to do an password reset, you are re-directed to the webshop with page cannot be found.
so i tried to create a subdomain subdomain.mydomain.com and uploaded it/installed/configured again. But this time after the install, error message page cannot be found. So it does not work at all.

So first i tried to open a community ticket on opencart.com, but they advise me to go to here and tell my problem. Because they dont support forums etc.

What do you mean by "somehow"?

I take it homepage is the landing page on www.mydomain.com.
From that how is your webshop integrated (e.g. www.mydomain.com/webshop) and your phpBB (e.g. www.mydomain.com/board)? The reason I'm asking this is that you mention a password reset on the homepage: is that a password reset for phpBB ? (are you trying to use the same logins for the webshop and phpBB?)
Please show the full directory structure you're using (and a genuine link to your board would help.

Please use the Support Request Template to provide the details.

the webshop is in the main folder so directly under mydomain.com (public_html) (NOT IN AN EXTRA FOLDER)
the forum i tried to do is with the forum (mydomain.com/forum) <- so the ACP was working, i had the chance to change stuff. But once on the main forum board and you try to reset password it re-directs you to the webshop on non-existing page with page not found.

so i tried doing it via subdomain
support.mydomain.com, the installation works after the installation was finished, directly it was saying page cannot be found.

Why are you using port 80 with https:// and force server setting?
Set it to 443 and force server setting:YES

where does /supportboard come from?

so script path is relative to your domain so it should be /forum (unless mydomain.com/forum was an example and /supportboard is the real directory in which you installed phpBB).

The supportboard is the folder what i created in the public_html directory.
so mydomain.com is the shop and mydomain.com/supportboard is the forum.

i will re-install phpbb because i did not set it to 443 did not know i can do that.

i checked your link for the cookie settings, i am option 1 so mydomain.com/supportboard
currently this is what i have.

the cookie path i entered it myself, so that it goes to the supportboard.

editing the setting will be a lot faster than reinstalling.

thank you,

indeed it was way quicker.

I noticed now that the board is running smooth, and when for example try to change password, forget password.
No more strange re-direction to the webshop with error: cannot find page.

so it should be fine now, it is fixed with the cookie settings.

thank you

bedankt voor je hulp, zal de board goed in de gaten houden.
