Auto Translate all topics and posts of the forum via chatGPT

Post by superdan77 »

OK here it is:
it would be nice to be able to put the chatgpt API key in the ACP and he, every time a new post is created, duplicates it in all the other selected languages and writes it with the same author name.
Example.
someone posts

www.myforum.com/it/come_si_fa.html (i use seo rewrite plugin)

and the forum via chatgpt automatically creates the replicas translated into

www.myforum.com/en/how_is_made.html
www.myforum.com/de/...
www.myforum.com/es....

with the same name as the author of the first post.

This would have to have an n to n correspondence,
i.e. there is no A native language, an user can write in any language and chatGPT will translate the post into the others

Then from acp you could choose which forums should be automatically translated and which should not.
all forums would become usable worldwide instead of only in the countries with the language in which they are written
What do you think about?

Pretty sure there's already an equivalent of a 'google translate' extension so anyone from anywhere can sign up to your board and see all of the posts in their own language anyway instead of having to replicate the entire file structure.

Biggest problem with that sort of stuff though is the quality of the translation. You're never quite sure if it's accidentally going to call someone's mother an old donkey!

You can title your post as you wish, but experience tells us you are more likely to get quicker help if the title is descriptive of your issue. "Hey!", "Need help", "phpBB issue!", "Urgent Help Needed", "Bug", “Request” etc., will be less conducive to a fast solution or quick attention.

Yes, but Google Translate sucks, chatGPT is almost perfect.
Secondly, to translate a text you have to find it and Google only indexes original texts and not on-the-fly translations.
The way I say it, forums have the possibility of being indexed on search engines for any language in any nation of the world.
Thats a HUGE difference

Yes but imho it has no sense.
I mean: if you have to ask chatGPT something, why go through a forum to get HIS answer? Ask him directly and end of story.
What I mean is very different: the content is human and chatGPT merely makes it available to the world instead of the individual country by translating it (and it translates GREAT).
For example: im itallian and i have an italian forum.
This forum is used practically only by Italians, who number 59 million.
Why not make it useful to another 8 billion?

With a post/topic titled : Request: The MOTHER of all phpBB extensions. Ever. Really!?
Really?
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

It might be a browser thing with google but I can go to a Russian site https://www.phpbbguru.net/ and a popup to the right comes down to select English and then I see everything on their site in English. What is that? That's what you need.

The Brave browser also offers to translate visited sites into your language.

if you translate a page on-the-file you can read it but google will neer index it in this language.
So no users from google in this language.
Thats the problem.
