recode_cjk.php missing!

I updated my site and checked the update package (phpbb 3.3.11) and found that the recode_cjk.php file (found in phpBB3/includes/utf/data/recode_cjk.php) is not on the server.

Should I upload it or is there no need for it?

If this file exists it is because it is useful, yes it must be present on the server

3310 has that file and it hasn't been changed in 3311 so there's no need for it to be in the changed files package.

advanced update 3.3.10 to 3.3.11

I think this file was not uploaded to the server before

Hard to tell.
First thing to do is to check that all files are present (use the full 3.3.11 package to compare your fileset to).
Additionally you could edit the phpBB version (set to 3.3.10 or the version you updated from, although I suspect that isn't even necessary) in the database and re-update.

Those tags have been in in language/en/acp/attachments.php since version 3.3.1.
Also, those tags are accessed on line 184, not 333, so I do not know what version of files you are trying to use.

Another thing that I tried a lot is the file recode_cjk.php with 1.4mb size that I uploaded several times and it was incompletely uploaded(filezilla and online file manager as the same only 544kb of file uploaded!). Once it was completed, it was strangely deleted by the server!

I compressed the file to zip and it was uploaded, but no file is written after extracting

At the host with Softculous I installed a new version of PHPBB in new subdomain that has the file (Recode_cjk.php 1.4MB) but I still can't move it to my site folder!

With the following link guidance:

Thats probably part of the issue, I’m afraid you get what you pay for with hosts. Ask your host if they’ll bump up the upload limit temporarily at least until you get that file uploaded. If they won’t do it maybe you should start looking for another host. Do you have access to the database, ie: can you save or download it?

If all else fails I suppose you could split the file in to two (or more) parts, upload them then merge them back to one file on the server (assuming they won’t remove it anyway) but it seems an awful potch.

recode_cjk.php probably isn't the only file refused by byethost. I had a similar issue not long ago (when experimenting with free hosts), a certain file from vendor/ocramius was also deleted automatically after uploading due to it being unsafe: yet it was installed (and not removed using the autoinstall. When I asked why: the answer was that with a paid account it would not be deleted. I asked why inconsistency in that the autoinstall did upload that file: guess what, no answer.

As to the free hosts: not so long ago I tested quite a few (a couple more to go when I find the time) and only 1 advertised with honest and correct information (and it's the only one on which I succeeded in getting a 3.3.11 to work properly).

OK, perhaps they've now marked the ocramius file (can't remember which one) as safe (in which case I should be thanked )
