Manage Extensions not accessible in ACP

Post by kenmoody »

ISSUE : "Manage Extensions" does not appear as an option in ACP

In System, Administration Control Panel, I do see "Extension management" and "Extensions" both listed. Both are Enabled.

If I edit Extension management, it shows
Module language name: ACP_EXTENSION_MANAGEMENT
Module type: category
Parent: No Parent
Enabled: Yes

If I try to change the Parent to something different such as System, I receive a red 'confirmation' window with no text in it, and nothing changes. Parent remains No Parent.

I have read these two posts which appear to address similar issues.
viewtopic.php?f=46&t=2129815
viewtopic.php?t=2346031

I have checked the permissions for the db table PHPBB_ACL_OPTIONS and a_extensions is listed, with a value of 1 for is_global.

So it appears the module is there, I just cannot do anything with it and it is not presenting itself as an option in the ACP.

Any additional insight & suggestions would be sincerely appreciated. Thank you!

Also, I posted about this issue when it originally occurred way back in 2017 and was never able to find a resolution, but here is that entire topic as well.

Does your module management page look like this?

Mostly, it looks like this. Not sure what the difference is between Extensions and Extension Management.

Yes, I used to have TapaTalk installed. And one other one. But I am unable to see or manage them since I am unable to find or go to the Extensions panel in the ACP.

Try to disable "Extension Management"
That is probably from a older phpbb version.

Disabled that, but still no difference in ability to see or access the ability to Manage Extensions in the ACP.

And to further clarify / update the nature of the issue.
I have moved the "Extensions" module under the Customise parent, and have disable and re-enebaled it.

Yet I am still not seeing "Extensions" Extension manager as an option under Customise.

Have you checked your administrator permissions?
If your admin account doesn't have the permission to admister extensions you won't see those tabs or links.

Thanks Mike.
My user account is set as Founder and appears to have all Admin rights.
Though I am not seeing a specific permissions item which identifies the ability to administer extensions.

You might want to first check your Global Permissions --> Administrators. The Standard Admin role, on the Misc tab, has a setting for Can manage extensions.

From a default phpBB 3.3.11 install.

Please use the permission mask to get the whole picture.

There are probably more permissions you were not assigned

Thanks warmweer!

I am not seeing Founder as an option in Permissions Mask settings. Am I missing something obvious? (quite likely)
