Reporting Gmail Illegal Activity to Google

Post by durangod »

Hi,

Has anyone ever reported illegal Gmail activity to google, its kind of a joke IMO

Today i got a email using my admin contact page from a gmail user that was advertising links to cp lolita (which i assume means child porn)

So i banned the ip and the email address on the forum, and also blocked the ip in my htaccess file. I also reported it not only to my host but also
to google using their link for gmail illegal violations. I gave them the entire email header information with the email content included.

Here is the partial reply i received (most removed for privacy reasons) (links removed as well)

That gmail link is the same link i reported it too. So it seems to be a infinite loop. Basically it appears to me they plan to do nothing such as terminate the account and/or notify the authorities.

Call me simple but to me it also seems that one of the first steps in fighting child porn is to shut down the email accounts that send it and go after the sender, but maybe that seems too obvious.

Anyone else have a similar frustrating experience?

I think if Google started monitoring and administering all emails before they get sent then it would all implode, rapidly. In the UK we have The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) which handles such things, I imagine there’s something similar in the US.

You can turn off the contact admin page or there’s an extension which replaces that and uses CAPTCHA see: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... act_admin/

Thanks,

I added this extension yesterday, although it does not work with recaptcha, all the other countermeasure options seem to work.

I will see how it goes, and use the other one if necessary.

Google doesn't care. 90% of my spam comes from gmail or office 365 email accounts. They have so many servers/ips they don't care if a handful get blacklisted.

Unfortunately the way it is.

Its not just getting them blacklisted, its putting the people that send that illegal content out in the first place in prison. I could care less if they get banned, i want them in jail, hard time, for a long time.

You missed my point. I wasn't talking about the people who cause this. I'm just saying that google and MS don't give a crap, because they have hundreds if not thousands of IPs to send from, so they do not care if a few get blacklisted.
