Please describe your problem. Its not a huge problem but I am wanting to stop 'guests' appearing in the 'Who is online' information at the bottom of the forum. I was wanting this information to the 'Who is online' information only to be visible to registered users when they have logged in. I was also wondering if the fact that such 'guests' appear in this 'who is online', does it mean that they can access or view the forums at all? I have all the permissions set to 'No access' for the guests group.

Guest don't see anything on your board, only the login/register screen, not the "who is online"
So don't understand your question.

Thanks for your input.

When Registered users, such as myself, are logged in, then the 'Guests' are visible in the ' Who is online' section at the bottom of the forum. I would like to prevent 'guests' from appearing in this. Thats fine that they can't see anything in the forums but with 'guests' being visible in the 'Who is online' then does this imply that they are looking at the registration/login page? Why would they be visible at all?

My question then was, how can I stop 'guests' appearing in the 'who is online' section.

Thanks again.

[Why would they be visible at all? /quote]
So you are able to check what guest are visiting your site and for instant can block them, if they visit your site to much (bad bots)

Surely you had a look at the ACP when installing your board?
ACP > tab GENERAL > Server Configuration > Load Settings > Enable online guest listings in viewonline:

That however does exactly what is says: it's either enabled or disabled: in other words: everyone sees guests or nobody sees guest.

If you want to exclude a particular (or more) groups from seeing guests, you'll have to edit viewonline_body.html ( IIRC there's a switch for Guest_Display you could play around with using the Group Template Variables extension)
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

Thanks for that. I hadn't realised it was in load settings! That sorts things for me.

Really appreciate you taking the time to engage.
