Hanging when posting, only on posters end

I'm running 3.3.3

I have a strange problem that started today. When a user makes a post and hits submit, it is hanging on their end, but showing up for everyone else. Meanwhile, the user who posted just gets a time out error. Disabling board wide emails seems to fix it, but that is not a long term solution.

On cPanel, I can also see posting is also suddenly using a lot of processes. This all started this morning.

Does anyone know what is going on here? Is it trying to send out emails to addresses which are no longer valid?

Can we assume you did nothing to cause the issue? That being the case the only other possibility is your host has done something, can you ask them if they’ve changed anything?

Look in who is online and click ’display guests’ to see of you’ve got a lot of bots trawling your board.

Correct, I didn’t change anything. It was a user who emailed me to alert me to the issue.

It ended up being a DNS issue on the hosts end. They had it fixed quickly. Thankfully my host has excellent tech support.

While we’re on the topic, will phpBB ever feature being able to disable specific email notifications? As of now it’s all or nothing. It would be handy to be able to shut off topic/post subscription emails but still allow new user registration emails, etc.
