I can't give you a deadline, but it's an interesting challenge and I like reviving old styles.

I just noticed something in the members listing. See the image attached.

The top arrow on right points to the box chars that i dont want or need, not sure where they came from.
The next arrow on the left points to the before css in the <li>
The bottom arrow on the right points to the css and it shows content which is the two box's

I can edit the css but i wanted to be sure that was the right way to do this seeing how these styles are compiled.

Have you updated the styles (parent and child aka "Black" and "Black red") in the latest version?
I suggest you create a topic in the style support section.
