Adding phpBB on SubDomain

Post by MusaS »

Hi,
My name is Musa, I own a website [removed] and it receives thousands of visitors daily. A lot of them have requested to install a forum so that users can discuss their issues. I am currently using Hostinger, and I want to install phpBB on a separate subdomain like forum.mymepcobill.com.pk so that my main website doesn't get affected.

I just wanted to ask do I have to buy a separate hosting or server for this or can I install on the same hosting without affecting the main website?

Please help and provide a detailed answer so that I can install this asap on my website.

Thank you.

All it takes is creating a folder within your hosting root (e.g. /forum) and install phpBB in "your hosting"/forum.
So you'll have your website in [removed] and your board in [removed]/forum (which you can configure to a subdomain).

Yes, you can do it in a folder like that, or you can do it on an actual subdomain if you prefer that option. I run a couple of test sites in password-protected subdomains, with the live forum being on a folder under the main domain. Either way works.

You can install phpBB on a subdomain like forum.mymepcobill.com.pk with your existing Hostinger plan (no separate hosting needed) - I can help guide you through the setup!
