Extension description: An official phpBB extension that enables Web Browser Push Notifications for your phpBB forum. Board members will be able to receive real-time system notifications from their browser on their computers or devices for any of phpBB's existing notifications. This covers essential forum activities such as posting, moderating, and private messaging.
This extension gives phpBB3 forums early access to the Push Notification feature being developed for phpBB4.
Features:
- Instant notifications: Users receive timely alerts from their browser for common forum activities.
- Customizable preferences: Users can personalize their notification settings to align with their preferences and usage patterns.
- Cross-device compatibility: Notifications are delivered across a range of devices and browsers.
- User avatars are displayed in most notifications (not all browsers may display avatars).
- Admins: After installation, visit the Web Push settings under Client Communication in the ACP. Generate the identification keys and enable it.
- Users: Visit the UCP and go to Edit notificiation options under the Board preferences tab, select the notifications you'd like pushed to your browser, enable push notifications, and allow your browser to send you notifications if prompted.
- phpBB 3.3.12 or newer
- Your server must be secured by an SSL/TLS certificate (i.e.: https)
- Your PHP must be version 7.3 or newer and have cURL enabled
- Custom phpBB Styles must be updated for phpBB 3.3.12 or newer too
