Largest phpBB sites

Post by rafa99 »

Can you guys post direct URL links to say 10 or 20 or 50 of the largest & currently very much active phpBB sites ?

I am not looking for sites that list phpBB sites. I am not interested in fishing expeditions sorting thru large amounts of garbage on such sites that list phpBB sites. These sites are horrible and seem totally out of date or most of these are gaming or such sites .

Thanks for your understanding

Whilst it's a bit out of date, the Showcase page does list several phpBB forums that are indeed quite big and active which would be a very good start. I'm not aware of any other lists that you could browse though.

Why specifically the largest?

I think https://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/ is phpBB and just about the biggest forum on the planet (that I know of)?

gaiaonline started as phpbb but was already heavily modified during the phpBB3.0 days but I doubt there's much phpBB-code left over now.

If you want links to just any phpBB forum then search for them using a search engine. This isn’t the place for simply sharing links to any old forum out there. There needs to be a specific reason to share a link otherwise it’s basically spam.

As danieltj stated (as have others) : search ... e.g. + forums + another search term e.g. phpbb/sports/large ... whatever
1 of the first links = https://www.forumrankings.net/software/phpbb

Don't want to use Google? there are other search engines e.g https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_search_engines

Oooh neat, I'd end up in the top 250 in there, I'd have thought I'd be a lot lower. Is that site considered some sort of benchmark in the communities community?

phpBB is in there, so seems legit enough? :)

My site has been on the PhpBB "Showcase" for 10 years now but isn't as large as the ones you guys are posting. We've got 151,000 attachments which have their own dedicated pages for each attachment (separate extension) to display these files as their own pages. This extension really got us to the front page of Google and search engines.
