Passwords don't convert.

Included with the convertor are instructions on how to modify login.php so the passwords will work.

The only other alternative is to have the users use the "I forgot my password' feature to reset their passwords.

Thanks in advance :wink:

Hi, can you tell me if this converter will work for IPB 2.1.3 to phpBB2 latest?

I noticed in some of your posts that you were asking for databases so that you could test it. Just wondered if the current version 0.5a will work, or do I have to wait for a new version?

I must say that what you are doing here is incredible, and greatly appreciated. :D

As far as I know, there are no problems.

I am testing right now with 2.1.3. I will let you know in a couple of days how it works.

Hi Dicky, I tried it out myself, and hit a couple of errors:

On this item -> 5 - Post Text Conversion (2/2) Out of 18000 it went to 13500 and then came up with this error:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /opt/lampp/htdocs/htdocs2/includes/bbcode.php on line 238

On this item -> 6 - Topics Conversion It came up with this error:

Warning: mysql_result(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /opt/lampp/htdocs/htdocs2/ib2phpBB/conv_topics.php on line 62

Although it did not stop processing as in the previous error.

On checking the site, I see there are no Topics or posts whatsoever, although all the Forums are there, just empty. :(

Could this be because I am using IPB 2.1.3 ??

I see on a previous post that this was fixed for people using IPB 2.0

In my test I am not bothering to keep the domain name the same as the original - could this be a problem??

Any ideas??

Richard

Hi Dicky, I have had a little more success today, but still getting a strange error.

When I select Item 5 - Post Text Conversion (2/2)
It tells me that I have 22000 posts and starts to process, until it gets to
13400 and then stops dead with the Fatal error detailed in my post above.

This is so frustrating, because it is so close to completing the conversion. :(

Please, please try and sort this one out for me. I am at a loss.

My final resort is to try and do the conversion on the host where the IPB database resides. All my tests have been on my linux server at home.

Possible causes: MySQL on test machine = vers 4.1.10 Host = 4.1.11
Setup on test machine = xampp

Try these settings to fix the Maximim execution time exceeded

There are couple of different things you can try

Edit php.ini
max_execution_time = 36000
max_input_time = 6000
memory_limit = 32M

~or~

Add this line near the top of conv_posts_text.php after require_once('./menu.php');
@set_time_limit(0);

I am not sure why your are getting the mysql error when converting topics. I am working on an IPB 2.1.3 right now and I have converted topics without getting that error. If it happens again, we will have to do further diagnosis.

Dicky, thank you very much.

I will try it, and let you know how it goes. :D

Edit:

I used this:
Add this line near the top of conv_posts_text.php after require_once('./menu.php');
@set_time_limit(0);

and it worked a treat. I now have all the Topics and Posts.

You are a Star, your work is much appreciated. :D :D :D

Hey,

So, I'm getting confused. I have 2.0.0 IPB, is this one working correctly?

Q: do I have to redo my template changes?

Robert

PS, is there a link to the download that conatins all the latest fixes for 2.0?

IPB and phpBB templates are not compatible, so they do not get transfered over.

As far as I know, the convertor is working fine with the exception of passwords do not get converted. I should have that fixed in a few days.

Code: Select all

1/ Do a backup of your Invision Board tables via PhpMyAdmin for example
What settings should I use when using the 'export' command with PHPMyAdmin?

Can you take a screenshot?

Some screenshots here, http://www.phpbb.com/kb/article.php?article_id=59

Use these settings;
  • Export
    • SQL
  • Structure
    • Add 'Drop table'
  • Data
    • Complete Inserts
  • Compression
    • None
  • Save as File
Use BigDump to import the sql file.

This is right?

Also how do I use bigdump, why can't I just import with PHPMyAdmin?

Thanks a lot Dicky! :D
